The “Green Growth: Industrial Waste Management and SME Entrepreneurship Hub in Egypt (IWEX)” study tour to the United Kingdom from July 2nd to 8th, 2017 to observe and replicate U.K.’s Industrial Symbiosis model

About the Event:

A study tour was held from July 2nd to 8th, 2017 to the United Kingdom comprising a delegation of 7 participants from the Waste Management Division in Chemical Chamber at the Federation of Egyptian Industries (The Executive Director and the Deputy Chamber Director), the Ministry of Trade and Industry (The Chairman of Industrial Council for Technology and Innovation and the Head of Legal Affairs, Industrial Council for Technology and Innovation) in addition to the Director of the ENCPC and IWEX Chief Technical Advisor and Project Coordinator. The objective of the study tour was to study the  case of UK in the development of an industrial symbiosis program as a recognized role model throughout the world, understand the role of the policy and legal entities and how could the system accommodate the industrial symbiosis program, observe the regulations, policies, and business models adopted with respect to industrial symbiosis program, see actual case studies of successful implemented synergies and the obstacles encountered during the implementation process and listen to the experiences of the stakeholders with regard to industrial symbiosis program and industrial recycling in general. The study tour involved visiting London and Birmingham city.
